Lucio Nocerino

Born in Naples in 1952, I moved to Milan with my family in the early 60s where I studied until I graduated and then worked.

Former bank manager with a passion for art, over the years I experimented with photography, ceramics, drawing and painting. I have been taking part in collective and personal exhibitions for several years.

Painting, for me, is a process that evolves from magical moments in life. My alphabet is evoked by the journey and by the memories of journeys to places, cities, through the woods, gardens and above all the "omnipresent" sea.

This personal vocabulary speaks through painted leaves and trees, rocks, and ever-cloud-filled skies; places taken from different but always exciting observation points.
Whether it's figurative or something purely abstract, I try to create that energy capable of attracting the viewer's gaze like a magnet.

I love to explore painting techniques. It is for me an endless journey, full of happiness for realization, the enjoyment of inventiveness. The suggestions are multiplied also thanks to photography and computer graphics: what is painted, at times, is only an intermediate step of artistic creation. Lucio Nocerino's painting is immediately recognized for the expressive force it emanates, his eye knows how to rest on the naturalness of things, showing us an unusual, intense and bright aspect.

Equally rich is his artistic way of "doing" which knows how to combine, in an apparently simple way, the transparency of dilutions with saturated color, realistic detail with classic nuance.

They are visions full of atmosphere always poised between reality and imagination.

The latest works show us an author who never stops, always looking for a fuller and more satisfying language through technical experimentation.
