María Eugenia Piacentini (Buenos Aires, 1981), self-taught from a young age, is driven to create and transform in boundless spaces, captivated by materializing ideas from her mind. She trained in Applied Arts for Sculpture at Escuela de Arte La Palma, Madrid, and in ceramics at Escuela de Cerámica Francisco Alcántara, after working in theater and film special effects makeup. She has exhibited individually and collectively in Mallorca, Madrid, Teruel, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Ourense, Rome, Miami, Paris, Zurich, Singapore, Coburg, and Munich, earning four finalist recognitions for ceramic work in Spain and Australia (Beatiful Bizarre Art Magazine). Piacentini: “Art awakens us from a deep sleep, thrusting us free and aware into a world that often seems otherwise.” Influenced by Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, and surrealism, she uses ceramics for its spontaneity, letting the work flow naturally, perhaps chasing or confessing existential doubts. Her art reflects a cultural and social milestone, manifesting the subconscious and a shared realm of magical ideas. Reality speaks through synchronicities and meaningful dreams, urging her to explore further. Her bold, realistic, and expressive sculptural approach seeks to captivate and awaken her audience.
