Elisha Ongere

I am a Kenyan by birth. I was born in 1963.
I am a visual artist. I do drawings and paintings. I love painting. I started with portrait drawing and painting. I love and do semi abstract drawings and paintings as it allows me the freedom to be creative as I want.
I love painting in oils and acrylics paints. I mostly work on canvas. I have sold many paintings at various art galleries and exhibitions.
I also do and send paintings to various people in different destinations when commissioned. I send unframed works by DHL, etc.

I have been drawing and painting since my entry and learning stage at Primary school. I was able to draw so well. This caught attention of my teachers who could always assign me to draw for them maps and diagrams for their teaching aids.
At Primary and Secondary school there was no teacher for Fine Art. I did Art on my own, and did the 'A' Level Certificate and passed. I met Fine Art teachers later at Kenyatta University. I had the opportunity to learn well other forms of Art and am good at many other skills like Sculpture, Ceramics, Graphics.
I have taught many Fine Art and they are progressing well. Many of them live as full time Artists.
I have Degree ; Bachelor of Education, majoring in Fine Art and Geography, Masters Degree in Environmental Studies & Community Development, both from Kenyatta University, Nairobi Kenya.

I am currently doing PhD (ongoing) in Environmental Science at Maseno University, Kenya.

- 2 solo exhibitions at National Museum Nairobi Kenya. Sold many paintings.
- Participated in 3 Group annual Exhibitions at National Museum Nairobi Kenya. Sold the paintings.
- 2 Group exhibitions at French Cultural Centre Nairobi Kenya. Sold all.
- Gallery Watatu, been selling at since 1991, closed in 2007. Sold many.
- National Museum Nairobi Kenya, been selling since 1992. Sold all
- Shanghai, China. Sold all.
- Frankfurt, Germany. Sold all.
- Tokyo, Japan. Sold all.
