Klaus Halfar

My painting has several thematic focuses: I create surreal scenarios and put people in the context of contradictory, but seemingly real connections.
Other works deal with the issue of social contradiction in our society, such as poverty vs. Luxury, pollution, church abuse, just to name a few.
In doing so, I attach great importance to not directly confronting the viewer with this topic, but to create subtle image content that only reveals my critical opinion at second glance.
In recent times, I am working in my painting the German Nazi past, which is in my opinion rarely discussed in the current visual art.

Klaus Halfar, born in 1947

Studied graphic design at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig,
afterwards in Hildesheim with Prof. Paul König.
1972 state exam.
Employment as a graphic designer in various advertising agencies in Bremen, self-employed since 1979.
Since 1979 intensive occupation with painting.
Retired since 2011, lives and works artistically in Berlin / Neukölln.
