Konstantins Černoks was born in Riga, Latvia. At the age of 5 his mother died of tuberculosis and he spent the rest of his childhood in orphanages in Latvia.
Konstantins emigrated to the United States in 1952, at which time he began six years of studies at the Art Students League in New York City. While there, he participated in Ivan Olinski's portrait and figure drawing workshops and Robert Hale's anatomy classes.
Konstantins was a founding member of the Latvian Artists’ Group of New York. Over the years, Konstantins had 20 one-man shows in New York, Chicago, Stockholm, Paris, and other cities around the world. He also participated in 50+ group shows.
Konstantins loved to look at Michelangelo's drawings, Corot's landscapes, and Rembrandt's portraits.
