In this work I wanted to focus on the many ways we find our way out of depression. I wanted to create a bright light in the dark. Still using what I've learned from installation, I create shapes that interact and balance one another within the frame of the canvas.

My work ranges in size, as I respond to my source material and challenge the perception of scale. I begin each painting like a new scientific discovery with no specific image in mind. I continue to examine my progressing abstract environment and intuitively respond after each decision. Each blank canvas goes through a continuous process of layering oil paint and then removing it to expose intriguing spaces, inviting exploration into a new unfamiliar terrain. The biomorphic forms are graphic and organic, forming vibrant sensual compositions. There is an element of an internal reflection during this process as I begin to fully realize the reality of each piece.
