Red Venus Painting

Stéphanie Lécuyer lives and works in Montreuil-Bellay in the Loire Valley, France. Born in Caen in 1966, to a family that appreciated the arts, she showed an aptitude for drawing and painting at a young age. She works in the classic style of oil painting, pastel and pencil. Her artistic expression makes constant reference to drawing, which she practices intensely. However, the use of colour allows her to overtake the strict limit of line by playing with very contrasted masses, shadows and highlights, which build a powerful image of the subject and sometimes expresses violent feelings. She often works on landscapes or still lifes, but always her work returns towards the study of the human body through which she attempts to represent a Humanity confronted with doubts and the struggle for existence. Nudes, scenes, the human figure and portraits are her subjects of preference. Keen on Art history, she studied Old and Contemporary Masters: Caravaggio, Degas, Egon Schiele and Lucian Freud are among her references. Stéphanie Lecuyer’s work has been presented in several exhibitions in France and abroad. It is often exhibited in Art Fairs. Her works are present in collections in France, Malta, England, Germany, Japan and in the United States.
