Born on November 23, 1960, in Maracaibo, Zulia state, Elio Sánchez comes from a family deeply connected to art and education. The son of Julio Vidal Gómez and Gloria María Sánchez, his artistic calling blossomed from childhood, when at the age of eight he received his first drawing and modeling lessons from his aunt Josefina Gómez, a renowned visual arts teacher. Those first strokes marked the beginning of a career spanning more than four decades dedicated to the exploration of painting and drawing as languages of personal and collective expression. During his adolescence, Elio combined academic training with rigorous practice: at the age of fifteen, he enrolled in the Experimental Drawing Workshop at the University of Zulia (LUZ) under the tutelage of Professor Carlos Arévalo, an experience that strengthened his mastery of technique and his creative discipline. In 1977, he furthered his studies by entering the Neptalí Rincón School of Higher Art, where he graduated with a degree in Pure Art, acquiring a solid foundation in color theory, composition, and materials. Recognitions UNESCO Recognition for an internship in Cultural Development (2006, Havana, Cuba). Recognition from the Alfredo Almeida School of Cultural Promoters (February 14, 2008) for its valuable collaboration at the International Sun Fair. Recognition from the Pedro Báez Art Gallery (November 28, 2013) for its participation in the Great Northeastern Drawing Salon.
