My name is Ryan Perry. I am a nurse and an artist. I enjoy traveling, reading, and learning. I work in nursing and I enjoy bringing the beauty of the world onto canvas. Instagram: / ?hl=en Artist Statement: Life intrigues me. People, relationships—love, heartache, happiness. It’s a beautiful thing. Life is very hard, too. I turned to art as a way of coming to terms with the darkness. I’ve always been interested in the human figure, how it expresses feelings so eloquently. My desire is for my art to bring a sense of silence within the viewer. Like pressing the pause button in a madhouse. Even if only briefly, this silence is very important. It is in this moment of silence that the viewer may reflect back on their own life experiences and bring them a sense of understanding. I’ve always been fascinated with the human figure and using this as a form of expression. More recently, I’ve been working with different materials as well as subjects, painting directly onto hand-stretched, unprimed linen. This, I have found, lends a unique gestural quality to my work and adds another layer to the creative process.
