Luke Sivik-Phelps

Luke uses everyday experiences, simple moments or interactions, photographing what he sees with no great need to capture ‘the’ moment. He also use old photo’s from family archives. They harbour emotions, similarities in our lived experiences the things that connect us. The photos are really a starting point for Luke’s paintings and at a certain point the photo drifts away and the painting takes over. His paintings portray the sense that a story is there, rather than directly telling a story.

After completing my foundation diploma at Central Saint Martins, (London, UK) in 1996 I went on to study at Kingston University, (Surrey, UK) graduating with my BA (Hons) degree in 2000.
