Joanna Morani is a renowned contemporary artist with many years of experience. Born in Germany, the cosmopolitan and well-travelled artist has lived and worked for more than twenty years on a Spanish island in the Mediterranean and occasionally in her studio in Germany. Her career as an artist is atypical: after completing her studies in the fashion industry, she turned to art, especially painting, to work with passion and dedication as a professional artist. Inspired by nature and the beauty of simplicity, by minimalism with its strict reduction to the essentials, as well as by spiritual concepts, Eastern philosophies such as Zen Buddhism, the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi culture and the Korean Dansaekhwa movement, the artist always works in series of paintings on a corresponding theme. She uses carefully selected, rough natural materials such as soil, sand and rock flour as well as pure pigments and the finest handmade Hanji paper from Korea. In an elaborate process of repeated layering, the artist succeeds in creating timeless and powerful paintings that radiate a sense of inner peace and sovereign serenity. They are unique, non-reproducible and exquisite works of art that invite the viewer to relax, pause and reflect in an increasingly noisy world.
