Lorna Robinson

I spent my early years in tiny Northern Ontario towns on the edge of the Canadian Boreal Wilderness. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Waterloo followed by a Graduate Fellowship at the University of Toronto.

I am currently living and painting in Toronto.

An emerging artist, I am largely self-taught supplemented with various courses at OCA, Sheridan, private art schools and tutors. After doodling my way through school and business meetings, the urge to draw kept getting stronger. And once I started drawing, it inevitably led to painting and the experimental use of colours. For me, emotion is expressed through colour. While not abstract I try to instill into my work the emotional content and context of the subject material and make a connection with the viewer at a level outside of form and representationalism. I want my paintings to evoke feelings with only a minimal reference to realism.
