Marina Teding Van Berkhout

Marina Teding van Berkhout is a Dutch Artist living in Plascassier, a small village near Grasse in the South of France. During her study in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, she started to paint in watercolours and sold many of my watercolour paintings. Searching for new ways to express herself, she switched to oil paint and has never gone back. She is mainly self-taught and attended workshops in England, the Netherlands and France. She also studied at the 'Académie of Beaux-Arts Anca-Sonia’ in Grasse. She draws her inspiration from the environment she lives in. Old buildings, weathered shutters, cracked and crumbled walls and picturesque villages like we see a lot in France are her inspiration to create beautiful textured backgrounds. She is passionate about painting Faces and Figures, slowly changing in style from very detailed to more and more loose. She adds Cold Wax Medium to the mix to create more texture and does not only only use oil paint but also incorporate pigments, pastels, oil sticks in her work. She recently started to teach workshops, in person and online. Her paintings are bought by collectors from all over the world.
