Melody Hay

Melody Hay earned her Bachelor of Art from Stephen F. Austin State University, where she studied Graphic Design, but quickly fell in love with painting. Already a senior at the time, Melody opted to continue down the Graphic Design track and graduated in 1998.

In 2004, Melody was encouraged to reevaluate her love of painting and began painting with friends in a small apartment-turned-studio they called "Studio 109". Two of her friends were also SFA Art Alumni. For the next 7 years, they showed paintings and painted collaboratively throughout Dallas and other parts of Texas.

During that time, Melody also became very involved in the Underground Dallas Artist Group, ArtLoveMagic, in 2007, where she painted, produced art shows and eventually became a board member until 2010.

In 2009, Melody began working for art dealers, where she learned a great deal about the art world, rubbing shoulders with Andy Warhol, Van Gogh and Damien Hirst works on a daily basis.

This side of art inspired Melody to open her own art gallery in 2010 in Oak Cliff, Studio 109 Gallery. Melody gathered a group of artists together to show in the space.
