ABOUT THE ARTWORK
What interests me is the process of layering materials to achieve a rich texture and depth on the surface of the canvas. Looking at this painting from a distance, you'll see the design—the shapes and colors. But as you move closer to its surface, you'll see the layers showing through. This piece, like all of my recent work, has paint, spray paint, ink, gesso and gel applied to the canvas. It is inspired by space and nature. If you're considering prints, this piece has been photographed by a highly respected fine art photographer using a 100MG Hasselblad camera. The resulting image reproduction is very detailed and can handle dramatic enlargement.
