I picked up the idea again this year that I started and abandoned with "Fruit soup no.1", not because I didn't like it but it became too difficult. Anyway there were all these 12 x 12 grids cluttering up my studio and I got hooked again! Maybe it is to do with my enjoyment of cooking but I can't see...

Born May 1946 at Shipston-on-Stour and grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, where everything is cultural but old. In 1968 I escaped to Australia where I have been most of the time since, except for several trips, including about 20 to Indonesia for work and pleasure. The first painting I remember doing was when I was about 8 or 9 (about 1955 but there were drawings before) and several things remain in my mind from then on. I didn’t however consider it seriously until sometime in the 70s. I have always made lumpy things but didn’t think of Sculpture until the late 80s when I was in Karratha. I taught fulltime and part-time from 1978 to 2003, mostly drawing and painting but sometimes Sculpture and Art History.
