I am a Malaysia Chinese Artist. My expertise is in figurative oil painting on canvas. Sook Siang Chiang was born in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. She has a troubled childhood and has shown symptoms of mild autism (Asperger’s syndrome). Being introvert, unsociable and slow in respond, she is always being misunderstood. Till now she is still fearful of meeting the eyes of others and shuns unfamiliar social events. That, however, did not hinder her talent in artistic expression. In her study years, due to family financial condition, she shelved her dream of being an artist and studied Electrical Engineering Diploma and English Literature Degree in government universities i.e UTM and UPM respectively. In turns of events, after letting go of her passion towards painting for over ten years, she finally ended up completing fine art diploma in Aswara and officially enters into the local art sphere. She expresses pain through her art works, with which she hopes to find some form of solace. Due to her autistic experience she can relate well to children with rare disease. She wants her artwork to serve as a powerful communication tool for public awareness to the plight of the MLD children. This is art with a purpose and this is where she found meaning to her artistic endeavor.
