About The Artwork

This is part of the Metamorphosis collection of 10 ink paintings. Metamorphosis is one of the newest 2024 collections from the artist's studio. Inspired by her iconic Chinese ink painting collection, this collection sees the greatest evolution of shape, design, expression, approach to art making and use of ink. There was the introduction of a layered collage approach, emphasizing abstract elements of movement, signifying the fusion of the elements of the water, waves, mountains, winds, clouds and the sky. There is a dynamic play of an interconnection of these elements as they move harmoniously with each other. Metamorphosis is about reinvention and evolution of the artist's process of art making and use of materials. This collection sees a more abstract and collage approach to her work that is refreshing and very unique as she continues to find her unique personal expression and style in the art world. This abstract work of art is ink and collage on paper.

Trinidad and Tobago

Caribbean artist with influences from beautiful and vibrant biodiversity in her home country, Trinidad and Tobago. Having a playful and dynamic artistic style that is experimental, she explores different styles, from using vibrant and fauvist inspired palettes to a monchrome. She is primarily inspired by Chinese landscape ink paintings that have evolved into a more contemporary expressive style. Her most recent works consist of monchromatic ink paintings that see a greater abstraction of forms, expression and playfulness in design overlays. Her use of ink is therapeutic and meditative where one has to understand the natural flow of ink and how it interacts with layers, water and the paper in creating forms. There is a level of control and letting go in the creative process. Understanding this flow of ink is refelctive of undestanding the flow of life. nicoletangart.com
