About The Artwork

nspired by my dreams, another self portrait. I woke up at 7:30am and had to draw this. I didn’t realize it was after 9:00am when I stopped drawing until my sister called me on the phone….. …Since as long as I can remember, I often dream about people with no faces. Sometimes It scares me, sometimes it does not… “Humans recognize one another by their faces. We also receive information about a person’s personality, emotions, age, and even their health from the face. Faces tell us whether an individual is friendly or hostile, someone who might be helpful or someone who might be dangerous. The faceless person might represent the dreamer. The dreamer may have “lost face” by being humiliated or shamed. Or the subconscious might be expressing feelings of losing one’s identity.".... Media Used: pastels, charcoal on mi-teintes paper 12 × 16

"Reality is what binds me to this world, my art is what sets me free..." I am a graphic designer by trade and fine artist at heart. A full-time college student at The Art Institute of New York City, I am earning my degree in Graphic Design. I am known as an obsessed designer and a compelled artist. I have enjoyed painting and drawing for the past two years. My media of choice; pastels and charcoal. I adore how this dry media enables me to have a hands on experience. Being able to intergrate myself through touch, feeling the paper through the pastels as it guides me. It becomes a very intimate moment in time painting with pastels... Though few can have such an appreciation. I seek inspiration from such great pastel artists such as, Schiele, Munch, and Monet. Their beautiful distortions of the human figure and emotions, I cannot help but be enthralled with.
