This artwork was inspired by a commissioned artwork I've made for a client. Their wish was to get painting with a view on a house in the Mediterranean landscape which was a long-life wish of the couple who has got the artwork for a present from my client. I tried to fulfill my client's wish and tried many preparation sketches, but I felt all along that something isn't quite right yet and that I am not even close to what I wanted to emerge. Then suddenly I've got a flash of an image I would like to see if I would have this dream of Mediterranean house of my own! I would like to picture myself already having it and enjoying the luxury of the view from my porch. And that's how I started the commissioned artwork, by depicting a couple at their back porch enjoying a spectacular view on the Istrian Landscape. My client was more than satisfied and the couple who got the artwork for a wedding present was delighted. This painting is much larger than the commissioned one and of course, I've changed some details in the scenery. I've used ink and watercolors, I've used acrylic paint only to paint the sky. I took a model for a small village in the distance from a real-life picturesque town of Motovun in Istria. The painting was mounted on a wooden frame, with 4 cm wide crossbars. The canvas is going to be shipped rolled in a tube without a wooden frame, prepared to be mounted on frame dimensions 100 x 120 cm with 4 cm wide edge crossbars. The image is painted over the edges of the canvas to achieve a 'frame effect', therefore the canvas does not need to be framed additionally.
