About The Artwork
This series of works were inspired by the organic lines and movement in nature especially the formation of rocks and flow of water. The marks and organic shapes create similar yet shifting forms on the surface applied with stains, drips, light washes and drawn marks. In addition the colours take the imprints of pebbles on the shore resulting in an interweaving ecosystem that has a life and energy of its own.

Valerie took up painting seriously in 2002 after attending the Alternative Foundation in Fine Art at The Slade Summer School, The Slade School of Fine Art, University College of London. Her medium is mostly oil or acrylic on canvas/paper. Paintings in an abstract expressionist style. They are created as a result of her explorations in colour, form, texture, depth, mood and movement on a surface. She also finds inspiration in elements and patterns in the environment.
