This pastel drawing is influenced by Matisse. It is showing the affection between two lovers. The woman is gently caressing the man . This life study is a pastel artwork as pastels are made of pure pigments and lend themselves to this subject as the body tones are subtle . Pastels show the contrast of vivid colours allowing the form of the figures to be highlighted. I have used an array of pinks, blues and mauves contrasting with the body tones. This is a romantic scene ideal for Valentines day. I enjoy exploring the human figure and the surrounds and like to add patterns and drapes silhouetting the main figures in this case. My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
