Part of a larger project about climate change, the Strange Weather series of video, and still images, is a duet between Oil and Water. The use of layered images conveys the reality that technology weaves various iterations of both Oil and Water into everything. The dancers' costumes are sewn from petroleum-based fabrics and decorated with plastic beads, some of which are meant to emulate pearls, which, like much of thew oil we use, emerge from the oceans.

Christy Walsh began her artistic life on the stage with her grandmother’s musical theater company, and this theatricality is evident in all of her work. She uses a variety of disciplines including: dance, video, and photography, to tell stories. She creates imaginary worlds where characters and settings are rooted in the familiar, but are removed from reality. Her creations are made up of dense layers of images and media that explore such disparate things as physics, philosophy, and history in a dramatic fashion.
