About The Artwork
With this life size portrait i tried to capture the feeling of a person, a woman, who as an individual defends her own individuality and idea's. She has a mind of her own and will express this. The work is set as a reaction against the tendency to label people as being part of a group and by doing so to erase their individual mind, spirit and idea's. Having a mind of your own is an important feature that enables you to grow and develop. As such this work is the opposite of the Starbucks series that collects portraits of people around a commercial symbol.
