My work is concerned with the creation of a sublime world that manifests in an ephemeral space between an art object and a spectator's experiencing of it; where art works come into being through the "˜play' of others. How a work of art may come into "˜being' through imagination, and also relates to our connectedness to Nature and how we interact socially with the world around us. Through play and imagination we can create spaces, places and worlds. We can re-connect through our feelings and responses to the sacredness of our lives and our relationships with self, others, objects and the spaces we inhabit. My practice is explorative and experimental, working across media, through the mediums of painting, drawing, film, photography, combined media installation, environmental art, text and movement. Â In relational art my interests are concerned with art coming into being through an interaction, people (artists, viewers, participants) the environment where they meet and find themselves and objects they engage with. The artist, being the catalyst, for an event or experience. My work as an artist in participatory arts is concerned with ideas and concepts in art, socio-political landscapes, science, architecture, psychology, music, philosophy and technology exploring the nature of our "˜being' in a contemporary world. Facilitating an "˜art' that comes into being through interactive relationships between art objects, art spaces, participants, spectators, and the wider landscape. Using the arts, as a vehicle to bring people together to work in collaboration. A number of concepts have influenced my work as a participatory artist: Picasso believed that all children are artists; Duchamp was concerned less about art objects in a gallery and more about the way we live think and engage with all that is around us as being art; Jeremy Deller said that it is not so much what we make but what we make happen. The Bauhaus School developed particular relationships between art and other spheres of life. Ideas in Quantum Physics: Physicists Fritjof Capra, Rupert Sheldrake and James Lovelock, note that we live in a Universe that is not a conglomerate of distinct units of matter but more a relational field of being. Â Ultimately the art that interests me most is where processes of daily life can be considered art. Here, the nature and intention of actions made in daily life are thought of as art.
