Elena Facchini was born in Florence the town that inspired her career. She began her training at The Liceo Artistico Leon Battista Alberti and subsequently, attended the University of Florence where she studied Modern History. She began her personal career in 1990 at Foresto Marianini's workshop in the heart of Florence; demonstrating a great aptitude from the start, she reproduced copies of famous paintings using various techniques like oil, tempera, watercolour and India ink. In 2004 she opened her own painting studio in Via della Stufa, initially devoting herself to trompe-l'oeil mural decorations and her work can still be appreciated in the DiVino wine shop, Trattoria Nerone and in several private homes. In 2007 Elena introduced a new element into her life by becoming the instructor for a series of drawing courses at the Fuligno Senior Centre, discovering that she had a natural flair for teaching as well as painting. In 2008 she collaborated with the publisher Vittorio Giudici as an illustrator for textbooks and in 2009 began teaching private drawing classes in her studio. She participated in the Premio Terna for contemporary Art in 2010 and in 2011 and won first prize at the Premio Giubbe Rosse in Florence, in honour of the Centenary of Futurism. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIfqszp9OV4 In 2010 she also held a personal exhibition, organised by Laura Gensini, in Elisabetta Martelloni's private gallery and founded the cultural association "˜Lascio il Segno' to promote cultural and artistic activities for adults and children. In 2011 she participated in the Caran D'Ache Art Competition organised in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy and one of her drawings was chosen for their archives. In 2012 she held her first exhibition overseas, Renaissance Memoires, organised by Laura Gensini at The Historical Library of The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen Institute in New York where she sells 20 paintings at the opening night and her work doubled in value overnight. http://www.generalsociety.org/News/please-join-us-for-a-journey-through-the-renaissance-with-florentine-artist-elena-facchini.html; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmXDbVVaAVA After her success in the USA, Elena returns in Italy where her work is exhibited once again at the Historical Cafe' Le Giubbe Rosse with a collection entitled "˜Inventions from The Past'. Her work is now doubled in price. http://issuu.
