Andy Warhol has had a huge impact not only on me but the whole art world and global cultural consumption. This oil on canvas with 24 karat gold leaf celebrates this iconic figure. It is also the first painting in my endless series of iconic 24K golden portraits. I started painting "iconic portraits" by painting portraits of iconic people and things with a gold leaf background reminiscent of religious icons. My evolution led me in a big loop ending almost to my starting point with one crucial difference - now I paint the background and do the actual portrait in 24 karat gold leaf. I am now where I cherish to be and confident on my path forward. My subjects are iconic people / topics that have had an impact on me or our society. I used pure 24K gold leaf on this painting - it emits a rich brilliance. The painting is signed on the back and has my “e” symbol on the front. The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
