This is the sister piece to A Gift of Gerberas and was painted at the same time during the covid lockdown. It was also inspired by the beautiful flowers the local growers were giving away rather than see them rot in the fields. Unlike all my other paintings this one is painted on a double deep canvas - 1½ inches instead of the standard ¾ inches - and it weighs a ton! Because of covid we ordered my usual canvas online for curbside pick up and drove to Santa Barbara to collect it. When we got there the sales assistant duly brought out the canvas, thanked us for our business and went back inside. Turns out that because of covid they had a shortage of my standard canvases so they kindly gave me this giant one instead! I like to think the depth lends a lovely weight to the gerberas and is another testament to the kindness of people during this troubled time of covid.

Hi everyone, I’m Linda! Born in the United States and raised in Scotland, I’m a screenwriter and entrepreneur, co-founder of an innovative movie company, and a passionate painter. My love of the visual arts encompasses both movies and painting and has inspired a life spent travelling the world and living in countries as diverse as Singapore and Thailand, Spain, the Bahamas and the US. I always loved painting as a child but life’s journey took me in a different direction, one of screenwriting and adventures in the movie business. However my childhood fascination with painting was reawakened when I moved to Spain with my family and fell in love with the amazing landscapes of that incomparable, sun-drenched country. From Spain we moved to Southern California where I have continued to paint, inspired by the Shangri-La scenery and ever-present vistas of coastlines, beaches, mountains and gardens. Thank you for visiting my gallery here on Saatchi Art, I’m so thrilled to be a part of this amazing creative community. Cheers!
