This painting evolved out of the crisis in U.S. Cities where the building of highways bypassing city centers in the 1950's and 60's served a three-fold purpose: Giving a people a faster way around the city, tapping into available government funds, giving an excuse to bulldoze areas of poverty. Unfortunately this practice caused the demise of city centers and concentrated the poverty into much smaller areas which created pockets of populations without influence of positive experiences, better education or a view of the more successful world. Studies show that these areas breed worse crime, poverty and violence than ever before. Integrated neighborhoods bring positive influences, improved education and success through example
