About The Artwork

The second image that was created during fascination the culture of Spanish. This painting shows the beauty and strength of bulls just prior to performance at the Corrida. This show maybe end tragically for them. I show an interest of animals and I built the appropriate tension for the viewer through the composition that is not symmetrical. I have created interesting compositions from vertical and diagonal and I composed in this arrangement dark silhouettes of bulls. Despite the displacement of large dark spots on the right side of the painting I kept the right balance of the total composition.

I started drawing before I even learnt to speak. I was drawing on all walls in my house and every single clean piece of paper that got into my hands. When I was a child my dream was to have an endless amount of paper to be able to express my childhood dreams and visions of the world by way of my drawings. When I decided to go to Arts Secondary School, and then to University, I didn't think of becoming an artist, I was only glad that I chose a school where the thing I love doing - creating art- will be my main duty. In visual arts the most important thing for me is the visual message, an idea, a thought which everyone has a chance to read regardless of the language they speak or the cultural background they come from. It is a message on universal values, relations between people and their emotional state, an attempt to present all the things that seem to us plain, normal and usual in an unusual way. I highly value oil paintings because it gives me a huge variety of technical means for creating a picture in which I can express everything I want. From soft touches of brush and gentle, subtle diffusion of colours to sharp, dynamic hits of palette knife and sharp, intense contrasts. I look for inspiration either within myself, my imagination and emotions or outside as well. The theme of my art can be everything, landscape outside a window of speeding car, people's talk sitting at the next table in a pub, theatre piece, music, particular kind of light. I often grab my brushes in order to express my attitude to something or someone. It is to allow me to speak through my paintings if words can't be found." http://yoannafuterra.com yoanna.futerra@gmail.com
