Born 16 November 1943 at Langeais in Touraine, on the banks of the river Loire : it will lead him through the sea, in Brittany, after a stay in Paris. He lives in La Baule since 1976. Since 2000, he has restored a workshop as Studio and garden where he exhibits his work and where he lives.Serge Boue, sea man, has a passion for scrapped boats. He inspires himself with the original shapes, keels, stems, and other elements of marine frame : he carves and paints them. These woods, who took shape by the labor of hands, who lived through the boats life, who felt the violence but also the voluptuous pleasure from the Sea, take a new lease of life by the Artist hand who turns them in Totems of the Sea and in sculptures filled with symbols. This work is printed with multicultural reminiscences, showing a Magyar and Celtic imaginary. The primitive or first Art aspect contributes to give a moving side to this creation. These statues seem ageless : coming from the mists of time, yet very contemporary by their style of drawing and their expression. The Sea inspires his painted work too : with her violence, with her peace, the Sea is there, with her strength and her beauty. Then, the paintings are called : Wild coasts of Brittany .With the games and vagaries of the winds, all sails out and blown up, the ancient wooden boats gave birth to Sails of Love .The preservation concern of this Maritime heritage, condemned to sink into a certain oblivion is constant in the approach of Serge Boue. The favorite medium is boat wood.Though he uses very simple materials : salvage wood, granite, shale, he also tests very contemporary materials. He creates photographs from his carved and painted work and prints them on light kakemonos swinging in the wind.Gardens and Land Art too inspire him : he takes part in prestigious shows.Sylvie Genoux-Boue
