For me, the Canadian Prairies offer a splendour which is hard to describe. Having avoided large open spaces as a child growing up in England, I wasn't sure what to expect as our train slowly wound away from the magnificent Rocky Mountains and into the great unknown. However, I was delighted to discover that the gently rolling terrain of the Prairies brought nothing with it but a sublime feeling of grandeur, and a deep sense of calm. After a week or so of staying on the Plains, what struck me most was no longer the arrangement of the landscape, but that of the sky - vast and wide, deep, expansive, quiescent. A minute or so of gazing there would lull me into a spacious state of inner quiet and rest. --- This piece is also available as a limited edition signed, numbered museum quality archival (c-type) print.
