About The Artwork
سرو or cedar tree has a special place in Iranian literature and art and is the source of inspiration for many motifs, paintings and poems. This painting belongs to a series of paintings that are originally inspired by Iranian and eastern motifs and then took off into different directions. It is painted with gold and bronze ink on the mulberry Thai Unryu paper that is almost translucent and let the light travels through it. This paper contains strands of fabric and blends with the painting that is visualizing the nuances of an abstract Cedar tree. A tree that is made out of Iranian and eastern motifs. This very light pink paper allows background colors to mix with the unryu paper color and can create different effects depending on the color chosen for its background.

I am an Iranian artist based in Chicago. I moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue my education in art. My education in illustration gave me storytelling skills. I mix storytelling with my love for expressive abstract art and non-abstract paintings and almost always I start my my work with a story and a feeling in mind and develop them from there and often, I let the music or my feelings take over my painting. My work has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators in New York and The Illustrator’s Club of DC, MD and VA. Currently I live in Chicago and works as a painter and as a freelance illustrator.
