Class of 65 Painting

This is a painting about time and nostalgia and the proximity of the not so distant past. There is an innocence to these older portraits when the world perhaps wasn't so dominated by technology. The people in this painting went on to live lives that we will never know but nonetheless they were just as significant and worthy of documentation as any life on this earth. The painting has texture from underpainting that gives it a roughness up close. The palette is subdued and varies slightly from picture to picture. We all like to look at faces and this painting allows us to compare faces and dream up fantasies about the lives lived. I don't think you can made a painting like this these days without thinking of #johncurrin or #gerhardrichter
