About The Artwork
This series of my paintings explores my impressions of the color and atmosphere of Mexico removed from figurative consideration. I love the freedom with which color is used in Mexico, as opposed to the conservatism of other countries. It imposes a strong feeling of joy where simple forms take on the enormous beauty of indigenous life, assisted by the brighter light and contrasting darker shadows.
