About The Artwork

Doorway to the Wild Ponies - This oil painting shows one of the many side canyons in the Little Book Cliffs along the Colorado River on the western Slope. I particularly like this canyon as it is the home of a small herd of wild ponies and ancient Indian petroglyphs. I first visited this area while researching rare earth elements associated with coal on a DOE study in the Uinta-Piceance Basin a few years back. I was reminded of that while driving past the turnoff returning with the family from the Mojave Desert on another project last month.
