Dragonflies in My Garden Painting

Dragonflies were inspired by those in my yard, embellished with cattails. The technique is watercolor batik done on Japanese rice paper. Textured by fibers in the paper that absorb the paint and by another application where dark paint seeps into cracks made in the wax by crinkling the painting. The painting is then ironed several times while covered with layers of newsprint to remove the wax. A fun but lengthy process that holds a surprise for the artist at each step.
