Claudio Roncoli, Argentinian visual artist, started in 2014 with his new artistic project: EMPTY PROJECT. The deep impact generated by his encounter with North American urban life broadened his perception of civic space: more specifically, the disparity in the way cities are organized, where the North American central point is occupied by a point of consumption, which is far from resembling the Latin American urban organization. This interesting priority is what gave life to EMPTY PROJECT (2014), based on the notion of consumer culture in Miami. In the past, colored surfaces were a territory to summon the spirit. With the arrival of modernity, we find a different axis, which, using an elegant mechanism of attraction to the consumer, hides in its interior a violent and authoritarian chromaticism, which does not intend to enrich the sensory experience of the individual or positively transform their living environment. EMPTY PROJECT began as an idea applied to the visual arts. However, the two-dimensional support was soon insufficient for an idea as vast as the subject the artist is trying to address: therefore, he turned to painting murals, producing sculptures, and designing buildings. Just like the consumer culture that appropriates everything, EMPTY manifests itself on any surface, it expands, it communicates, and it bonds with individuals. His latest project consists of the design of an EMPTY sculpture in the province of Salta, in Argentina: extracting any religious notion from it, the structure is presented as a space for introspection and meditation, where one can be calm and reflect on the constant stimulation of a hyperconnected world. The stillness that the EMPTY chapel tries to preserve, its connection with the spiritual beyond the sacred, gives it its name: SOUL - TIME. It would have seem to be the objective of EMPTY PROJECT from the beginning: to protect, through art turned into space, a place of silence for the busy citizen.
