Currently part of my solo show EYES UP. Levanta tu mirada
This is me standing by “Ensueño” / “Daydream” not looking my best though :)
Over a white wall and a dark one
“Ensueño”, a 36” diameter oil on Belgian linen, part of my solo show EYES UP. It’s in perfect condition. Heavy weight linen, very fine grain. I buy it by the roll every year in Spain, from a 100 years old art store. The painting is glued [acid free PVA] to a mdf board whose edges were previously beveled all around to achieve a polished finish. The back of the board is painted with Behr paint (Hematite). Everything customized and hand made. A 15.8” x 15.8” square frame was attached to the back of the board to grant extra rigidity and allow a separation of 6/8” from the wall. Thus the painting will look like floating when hanged. Weight: 10 pounds. A professional art hanging system is attached to the back frame: pvc coated steel wire and steel plates so you will get it ready to hang, confidently. Doesn’t need a frame itself. ”Ensueño” is a modern take of an old subject, a true statement of colour, which will give way to conversation and debate about what we can see if we remember to look. It looks great and matches all kinds of interiors, minimalist, classic, eclectic.....it’s a friendly no angled window or even a planet! Thanks for your appreciation of my work. **Please note that the main picture looks in a white square in “view in a room” feature, this is not actually the case**. About the EYES UP exhibition, Creative concept: “In these days of easy access to a variety of portable electronic devices --such as telephones and tablets-- our attention is quickly and easily drawn to whatever appears on a screen. Our posture has switched to shoulders rolling forward, bent down head and eyes looking downwards. And from one day to another, the world around us has been relegated to a less important category. Standing on Earth, we enjoy only a partial view of the unknown infinite universe, whose vastness tends to silence and darkness but at the same time bestows the wonder of light and colour upon us. Therefore, my artistic proposal is an invitation to disregarding technology, putting screens aside to look upwards, raising our gaze. Surprisingly, we will see something instead of nothing.”EYES UP Inspiration: “Over my many years of cloud-gazing practice, I have noticed they evolve in size, shape and colour depending of the time of the day and the cycle of seasons. I have found out that certain cloud formations and unique chromatic patterns appear repetitively, always in the same period of the year, as if they were the preferred choice of a heavenly painter. I have seen frightening shapes and shadows, slowly transmuting, and colours that many could describe as impossible. At a point, I started a photo registry to keep a record of this amazing experience, which later produced dozens of wonderful aides-memoire. As a result, in some cases clouds play an evident role in the composition. In others, they are more subtlety introduced to gently give way to saturated colours —part of my passionate language. “Eyes up” was inspired and encouraged by my own enchantment and awe in front of a splendorous natural environment, which have moved me in different ways throughout, being this series of oils a humble intent to express how deeply touched I feel in front of that magnificent beauty.“
Here the beveled edge and satin finish. Edges are not visible unless you go from the side and “up close & personal”

About The Artwork

“Ensueño”, a 36” diameter oil on Belgian linen, part of my recent solo show ”EYES UP”. It’s in PERFECT condition. **Please note that the main picture featured in “view in a room” looks on a white square which is not actually the case**, for the artwork is round (circular) and no frame is needed. Comes ready to hang. Material: Belgian linen, heavy weight, very fine grain. I buy it by the roll every year in Spain, at a 100 years old art store. Medium: Artists choice Winsor & Newton oils. The painting is glued [acid free] to a mdf board whose edges were previously beveled all around to achieve a polished finish. The back of the board is painted with Behr paint (Hematite). Everything customized and hand made. A 15.8” x 15.8” square frame was attached to the back of the board to grant extra rigidity and allow a separation of 6/8” from the wall. Thus the painting will look like floating when hanged. Weight: 8 pounds. A professional art hanging system is attached to the back frame: pvc coated steel wire and steel plates so you will get it ready to hang, confidently. No frame needed. ”Ensueño” is a modern take of an old subject, a true statement of colour, which will give way to conversation and debate about what we can see if we remember to look. Myriam O is a multi talented artist of Chilean, Turkish, Portuguese and German descent, painter, performer and writer. Her fondest childhood memories are those of attending the opera and turning the pages of art and museum books. She is a passionate interpreter of jazz standards and Latin songs, then, painting was kept somewhat on hold, however greatly missed for in painting she finds a much-sought world of silence. Thus, she decided to devote herself equally to both disciplines, a decision she has never regretted for her artistic endeavour became more fulfilling and complete. Her paintings are in private collections in Chile, UK, USA, Denmark, Malta and France. In 2015-16, she was selected to participate in non-commercial biennale The Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale, in Malta, representing her natal country. Also in Malta, and invited by CARAVAN —non profit organization focused in peace building through the Arts between the creeds and cultures of the East and West— she participated in the exhibition "Mediterranean Peace Donkey". She was then welcomed by Raven Art Society gallery and later by Johnson's Gallery both in Battersea, London UK. She used to take part in selected collective exhibitions while living in Chile. “I am a sentimental artist. When painting, blending what I see, how I feel and what I want is mostly a spiritual experience, a prayer in solitude, lovingly and joyfully carried. I feel painting is a journey through the longings of the heart and the windmills of the mind, just as life itself. Oil remains my preferred medium; it is romantic, melancholy and infinite. And yet, I'm not afraid of experiencing other media such as collage or even going digital, for the images I see in my mind seek to be brought to reality in different ways". “Since Oct. 2019 when riots, looting and charring stroke Chile, I became a columnist for a digital women's magazine and a newspaper. I took the chance to illustrate some of my columns with collage artworks.
