VIEW IN MY ROOM
Australia as named by Pedro Fernandez de Quiros (1565-1615) – Portugese born explorer in the service of Spain who made important discoveries in the Pacific. Quiros gave the name ’Australia Del Espiritu Santo (Australia of the Spiritual Saint) to the Great Southern Continent…the nation of Australia today. This painting is of an old river bed on a farm in an area known as Trunkey Creek, NSW, Australia. Although it was lovely and lush when I visited the farm in the mid 1970's it is also an area that is known for being in drought. I painted this from a photograph I took during my visit. Size: 16”x 20” - this painting needs a good clean to bring out the bright colours again hence the low sale price.
