About The Artwork

Fractured a painting with a story. It was raining very hard late one evening and our power went out. My father, Max (who was living in a house across our driveway on our ranch) was calling me on my cell phone to ask me if we have power because his TV went out. So, I walked back to the bedroom to see if our TV was working. The screen was all pixelated. I thought what a great design, so I went and snapped a photo of it to paint that image the next morning. It had the actress’s face in the middle with all colors imaginable surrounding it. I was so excited about painting it that I forgot to get the name of the movie or the actress, but yes, I did get back to my father and told him the picture was pixelated but we still had power, and yes,...I did start painting the pixelated imagine the very next morning. However, I believe this is one of the only times I have ever changed a painting’s name. One day a very elegant and sophisticated lady came into my gallery. She stared at the finished painting for a very long time. Then she said, “I think I would name that painting Fractured and then she went on to tell me what she saw in the painting and then she explained how so many family members in their lives were fractured as a family but in the end seem to always work things out. As she went on to elaborate what else she was seeing in the painting, in my mind I was beginning to change the name I gave it Pixelated, from what I saw that evening. Because in the end, the picture did come back on as did the fractured family members she was describing come back together. This lovely lady is a college professor from Mississippi and who is now a dear friend. I enjoy and value clients that emerge themselves in a painting and explain what they see and how it makes them feel. It is the joy of an artist and gallerist.
