Camellias are beautiful flowers. But when their petals fall, they die in a matter of hours. I caught these recently fallen petals one day as I was taking my morning walk. I snapped the photo and thought it looked very much like an abstract painting. It was an inspiration to use it as a reference photo for a painting. This painting reminds me of women who may have "fallen" in their lives, continuing to be beautiful and delicate. To me, this painting represents women who have fallen in their lives but who have picked themselves up and became something more powerful and beautiful than before. I would like to see this painting have a home with a woman who considers herself a "Fallen Camellia." This painting is painted with only the finest professional grade watercolor paint. It is guaranteed to last well over 100 years. The paper is equally strong - Arches 300 lb. watercolor paper. This painting is preparing to get ready for an upcoming show. It will be made available once the show is over. Prints are still available. Thank you.

Nancy Riedell, an internationally recognized, award winning artist originally from California and now living in Nevada, graduated from San Francisco State University where she studied Fine Arts. Classes included figure drawing, color values, acrylics, oils, and art history. Nancy’s love of art goes back to childhood as her mother encouraged her to develop her art skills by giving her art materials and art books so that she could develop her technique. Nancy’s current medium is watercolor. The bold use of colors and interesting landscapes has played a strong role in Nancy’s unique paintings. She feels that although she has been working with art since childhood, it is only within the last few years that she has felt the calling to go back into her art. Her work reflects her passion well by using strong, saturated color and theme. Nancy likes to take advantage of every opportunity and is known to photograph subjects for future paintings. She has captured beautiful sunrises in Monterey County, unique beach scenes in Santa Cruz County and unusual rock formations in New Mexico. Nancy’s art has been displayed in galleries in both the United States, England, and most recently, France. Nancy has been in four publications and has received seven awards to date. Nancy is a current member of the California Watercolor Assn, the National Watercolor Assn, and the Sierra Watercolor Society.
