About The Artwork
This dilapidated four wheel drive vehicle (a Dodge Power Wagon of vintage unknown) is one of my favorite subjects. I love the mottled coloring of the vehicle set against and the lakeside view up the mountain. It resides in the Alta Lakes area, high above Telluride, Colorado. I first spotted it in 2001 while exploring the Alta area. Orange paintbrush grew in the foreground, a scene I painted as a 4x6 miniature long ago. This version is contemporary. Over the years persons unknown bashed in the hood by jumping on it, stripped off some of the exterior parts, and added a bullet hole to the passenger side windscreen. And, rust and flaking paint never sleep. I don't know the life story of the vehicle, but it looks like it was outfitted for mountain rescues in the dark of night. The crumpled fender speaks of encounters with rocky outcroppings.

I'm a retired communication professor pursuing a new avocation as a watercolor artist.
