About The Artwork
I've been exploring as many ways as possible to create a contrast between hard-edged, flat shapes and organic textural forms. Other contrasts include neutral tones vs saturated warm hues, matte vs gloss (the flat shapes are matte, the textured areas are glossy. These pieces happen via painting a first layer loosely inspired by nature, then scraping it back, then choosing areas to tape to create hard edges that taper off.
