About The Artwork

As ever the sea is a continual inspiration for my work. My childhood days were spent on the beach and every seascape I paint today includes figures which relate to all my own experiences. I am strongly influenced by the joy and freedom of days on the beach and childish pleasures. The main driving force behind these works is to release from the rigors of modern society and hark to simplicity and simple pleasures. Naturally I hope that the viewer will relate to the joys of simple activities derived from times spent by the sea. Even perhaps personally relate to it. Beyond that I also hope the viewer will enjoy the seascape encasing the seaside activities and feel the weather conditions of the work. I really hope that a viewer could sense inhaling the fresh smell of the sea and from this work perhaps, with some luck, feel a brush of the sea breeze as they view. As an Impressionist painter my influence is from the early impressionist masters I continue to work in oil as the early masters did. For me it is such a subtle and sensual medium.

Judy was born in Melbourne Australia. She gained a Diploma of Art from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology 1963. She has had a long and exciting career and her art work has been through varying styles and stages over the years. She is probably best known for her Impressionist seascapes, which have been popular for over 20 years. She has had over 40 Solo exhibitions in Australia, England and Sweden. She regularly exhibits in group shows in Australia and most recently also in New York, LasVegas and Bologna. She has had 49 prints out in world distribution and 1 limited edition. Most of her art work is Impressionist-Realist in style. Judy works mostly in oil, acrylic and watercolour. She is a purist in technique and uses wide sweeping brush strokes to capture timeless exciting images suffused with brilliant light, colour and intricate detail of light and shade.. Above all she paints from the heart and hopes her work will touch the heart of another. Her paintings are treasured by viewers not only for their brilliant beauty and dazzling light, but also for the ability the images have to soothe and heal the viewer, and to offer a gentle reminder of all that is out there in the world if we take but a moment to notice. As Judy says" I have always wanted my art work to bring moments of joy and happiness to the viewer and allow them a chance to dwell, for a moment, on the sweeter things of life.
