About The Artwork
Acrylic on Cartridge Paper. I had used pastels to create a soft, hazy summer's day when creating a picture of poppies and wanted to create something more bold. I loved the depth of colour in the iris and thought that an art deco inspired piece was the only way to do it justice in bringing out that beautiful deep blue. I hadn't seen any of Georgia O'Keefe's paintings until my tutor saw this painting and told me to go and look at her work!
