About The Artwork
Portrait of contortionist, Kim Upton. Kim's story is so compelling because of her determination to keep performing after an 8m fall where she was badly injured. Not unlike Kim, I didn't want the portrait to dwell on the accident, but felt it important to reference - so depicting her suspended or levitating just above ground. This portrait was a finalist in the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, 2011.
