ABOUT THE ARTWORK

After many years of travel and exploration, Duong Thuy had the opportunity to witness the natural beauty in all corners of the world, from verdant fields and majestic mountains to vast beaches. Each journey imprinted experiences, emotions, and observations deep into his subconscious, providing an endless source of inspira- tion for his subsequent works. This voyage of world discovery not only allowed Duong Thuy to grasp the beauty of nature but also broad- ened his understanding of humanity and culture in the places he visited. Encounters, conversations, and daily observations of local life propelled his vision and perception of existence. Nature is, in fact, very rational. Each element in nature holds its place and role; nothing superfluous, all oper- ating within a balanced law of life: propagation, competition, symbiosis, and destruction, mirroring the cycle of human life. Over six years, through hundreds of direct sketches and drafts, nature, with its perfection, ratio- nality, and universality, has always been the starting point, the inexhaustible source of learning for Duong Thuy.

"I don’t have the notion of painting to become someone, and while painting, I don’t confine myself to any concepts or ideas. Painting is simply painting. Initially, I feel comfortable with small-sized drawings, just A4 size. I also don’t think they need to be hung up to become alive as artworks. When I finish a piece, I let go. And while painting, I am free. I think that’s really important. To make the act of painting more like a healing therapy, rather than just a profession"
