About The Artwork

This piece is about embracing your shadow. All of the parts of yourself that you try to hide. Telling yourself that it’s okay. That all of you deserves love. I’m very intentional about the subject matter of my work. I made them facing way from each other to represent us not wanting to face our full selves. The hair is wrapped around them binding them together as a way to say “you can’t escape me”. The is representing the spiritual connection between the two selves. The Luna moth (which comes in many breeds) is very special to me and I include it in as many paintings as I can. It represents transformation, spiritual enlightenment, healing, regeneration, feminine energy, intuition, and connection with nature. All energies that tie the two selves together. An inescapable connection. I’m a mixed media artist. I love to experiment with different mediums and I never want to limit myself. I go for what I feel. I love abstract art. It’s very intentional but also freeing, and meditative. I finish every piece with oils. I do this for depth, dimension, and buttery textures that can’t be reached with the other mediums

b. New York 1992 Lives/works: Lexington, SC. Medium: Oil and mixed media “EDEN’s work is structured upon the melding of abstract, surrealism, and figurative. She centers her work around the journey through trauma, healing, and growth, while having Black women, and children as the central focus. Her goal is to express her visual interpretation of life’s journey, as well as, amplify the voices of the silenced. She seeks to tell stories and show that things aren’t always as we perceive them to be. Her work touches upon subjects such as race, sexuality, mental health, human emotion, environmentalism, activism, spirituality, healing, and uplifting women, specifically black women, in society. She discusses topics that we would otherwise ignore daily basis. She creates what she feels. She creates stories. Both her own and those of others.”
