About The Artwork

Summertime 1960 something. We used to climb on our bikes after breakfast almost every day and be gone until dinner. Sometimes we played sports at our little playground, but other times we just took off on our bikes to see what we could discover that day. Often our adventures were close to home, probably within a 10 minute ride. But that wasn't a problem because there were plenty of things to do and lots of mischief to get into right in King Manor. We had commuter train tracks at the end of the street to the right of my house that created one border of our neighborhood, and just beyond the tracks was a granite quarry. It was fenced in but of course we found multiple entrance points. The workmen set off dynamite in there six days a week that shook everybody's house, but we thought it was great and tried to be looking in from the ledge when the charges went off. At the end of my street to the left was a cul de sac that ended at a small family farm with corn, strawberries, and pumpkins. Past the cornfield were sprawling woods with a creek running through it. In those days a group of boys could play in the woods and in a creek for hours. Best of all was an old overgrown and abandoned farmhouse that was in a horrible state of disrepair. Only the bravest kids ever went in there to confront the ghosts and felonious criminals inside, and those kids told me it was dark and really scary in there. On a ridge above the woods were the Conrail freight trains... which were impossible to stay away from for curious boys of a certain age. Ah, the old neighborhood. Simpler times. Safer times. A great time to be a kid.

After a 30 year career in advertising and sales leadership I escaped the corporate media world a few years ago and can now focus on creating my own work. In other words, I'm an outsider artist that has decades of ideas pouring out. My intent is primarily to create pieces of art that are highly visual and interesting to enjoy and study... but may often express ideas, ask questions, unearth feelings, debate opinions, or sometimes be provocative. Like many paintings though, they're often just a combination of lines, shapes, colors, textures, and space. That said; I hope my work presents a UNIQUE combination of art elements to you and that you like what you see. Better yet, I hope you believe some of my pieces should be included in your collection. I've traveled the world but have always lived in the Philadelphia area. While I have no formal training as an artist, I've been a photographer and I've been around the art community my whole life. My wife Suzanne works as a Docent for the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and together we've raised three wonderful sons that are all now making their own way in the world. We have a home and our studio in Chester County PA with our Bernese Mountain Dog; Mr Charlie.
